About this course

This is the only bachelor degree of its kind in South Australia and will prepare you for a professional career in the real estate industry. You will graduate with the expertise to become a real estate agent or property manager in residential, commercial and industrial property.

You will focus on specialised courses in areas such as management, marketing and entrepreneurship, and have the opportunity to undertake a minor in marketing to complement your specialist skills.

As a graduate, you may be eligible to seek registration as a land agent, sales representative or property manager with Consumer Business Services.

What you will learn

The degree starts with core courses in business. These will give you a solid grasp of business fundamentals such as economics, accounting and business law.

You will then study specialised areas with a focus on marketing and entrepreneurship, including:

  • real estate business and marketing management
  • property law and economics
  • real estate investment and development
  • enterprise design and value creation

You will also be able to use your electives to complete a minor in marketing to complement your real estate practice studies. This will allow you to gain expertise in consumer behaviour, advertising, digital marketing, branding and marketing analytics.

You can gain an extra qualification and broaden your career prospects by completing a Diploma in Languages.

  • Entrepreneur: using initiative, commercial acumen and broad ranging business skills to develop or transform a product or service for yourself or an organisation
  • Portfolio manager: making investment decisions and carrying out investment activities on behalf of clients or institutions; implementing investment strategies; managing day-to-day portfolio operations
  • Property agency manager: managing and maintaining residential, commercial and/or industrial rental properties; analysing market conditions and ensuring properties are occupied; organising records and documents and handling contracts; organising regular property maintenance
  • Property developer: researching land and property opportunities and evaluating the feasibility of a project; assessing the best use for the land or property; planning the property development, including the schedule and costs; working with architects, builders, and local councils
  • Real estate agency owner: owning, operating and managing a real estate agency
  • Real estate agent: negotiating and arranging the buying and selling in real estate transactions; advising clients on how to price properties and prepare for sale; marketing properties
  • Sales and leasing consultant: developing and implementing sales and leasing proposals for commercial land and property; negotiating lease and sales transactions; generate listings and service existing client sales
