About this scholarship

The scholarship has been established to honour the late Linda Lou Murphy who was a highly regarded South Australian artist known for performances that included the adornment of the body by complex folded paper forms. The interplay between skin/paper, artefact/body, and risk as a positive force were some of the themes that informed her work.

The scholarship is open to commencing or continuing students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework visual arts program (minimum load of 9 units per study period) and preference may be given to a first year student.

Eligibility:

The recipient will be selected on the basis of financial disadvantage or isolation, in accordance with the donors wishes, although consideration may also be given to applicants addressing other equity criteria. Additionally recipients will be selected on their passion for visual arts demonstrated in the personal written statement, and performance at an interview.

Scholarship applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, be enrolled in a Visual Arts program, and provide a personal written statement. Applicants will need to provide relevant details relating to their equity status (e.g. Indigenous, low-socio economic status, rural or isolated location or students with a disability) and personal or financial circumstances should be included in their written statement.

Students who are in receipt of another scholarship administered by UniSA are not eligible to apply.

Value:

$5,000 paid in two instalments of $2,500. The first payment will be made after the Study Period 2 census date, and the final payment will be made after the Study Period 5 census date, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Online applications will open through my Scholarships in February each year.
