Associate Degree of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)

Learn to design and develop efficient, reliable and economical products and processes that could make an impact on modern engineering mechanics and machinery.
• Build on your existing knowledge of machinery and mechanical trade, translating practical know-how into physical and mathematical principles, giving you a broad perspective of the entire engineering discipline and its practice.
• Once graduated, tasks within your career may focus on specific elements of larger systems; applying established codes, practices and procedures to manufacture, install, commission and service small and large scale projects involving machines and mechanical systems, such as bulk handling and air-conditioning.
• Do you already hold a Diploma through TAFE, prior studies, or experience through work? You may be able to fast-track your degree.

This degree is a great stepping stone to our Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) where you will be credited for your studies already undertaken in the Associate Degree of Engineering.

When you graduate from this major, you'll be eligible for full accreditation with Engineers Australia as an Engineering Associate (Officer). You will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with your accreditation recognised in other countries that are signatories to the Dublin Accord.

• Some of the career options for graduates includes mechanical engineering officer, mechanical drafter or designer, CAD operator, CAM operator, maintenance technician or planner, building service technician, manufacturing planner or supervisor in some of Australia's biggest and most important industries.
• Apply your graduate expertise in areas including maintenance, machine and mechanical design, air-conditioning and elevator systems, resource extraction, waste processing, computer aided design and manufacturing or specialist technical sales.

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units.

• want to transfer to UniSQ from another university.

• are a current or previous UniSQ student returning to study with complete or incomplete qualifications (excluding Head Start students), or
• have recently graduated from TAFE.
