Enjoy flexibility in your study with the option to study completely online and still graduate with practical, tangible skills ready to apply to industry.
Create scripted shows, documentaries, reality TV, and online content for the small screen (TV, computer screen, phone screen etc.) for use on YouTube, Vimeo, social media, and websites.
Whether it's working in the camera department, the production office, the editing suite or in the director's chair, as a graduate you will have a wide selection of employment opportunities throughout the global film and screen industries.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

English (Units 3 & 4, C)

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

If you don't have an ATAR, you can attend an interview and supply a portfolio and written statement.

Interview information

Applicants who don't have an ATAR must partake in an interview and provide:

a head shot style photo of themselves
a school exit statement, or evidence of previous education standard achieved
a portfolio of examples of your films, and scripts or media works at interview
a written statement (500 words) addressing your goals and aspirations in the film and media industries and what area interests you the most (e.g. director, producer, editor, cinematographer, sound recordist, art director etc.). Please supply your submission at interview.

Note: It is a requirement that Queensland-based students hold a current positive notice indicating that they are deemed suitable for working with children and young people whilst studying the Bachelor of Film and Screen Production. Further information about the Blue Card or Exemption Card suitability process is available from the Blue Card Services.

If you have completed a qualification from a TAFE or qualified private provider, you may be able to use these qualifications to meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

To complete this degree students must complete 24 units.

or 1 x 4-unit minor plus 4 x elective courses

*The second 8-unit major can be chosen from any approved 8-unit major in another discipline in the School of Creative Arts (e.g. Visual Art, TV/Radio, Film Production etc. providing all entry requirements are met) or from a recommended major outside of the creative arts, such as Communication and Media Studies, Photography, Journalism, or English Literature, or another major in consultation and with approval from the degree director.
