Applicants who have recently completed secondary education (in the past two years)
This course uses ATAR and equivalent ranks as part of the admission process. We anticipate that the lowest ATAR that will receive an offer for this course in 2023 will be 65.
Applicants with previous higher education study
* Completed UTAS University Preparation Program or an equivalent enabling program offered by another Australian university; OR
* Completed course at Diploma level at any Australian higher education provider (or equivalent overseas qualification); OR
* Partially completed a course at Associate Degree level at any Australian higher education provider (or have partially completed an equivalent overseas qualification). Applicants must have completed the equivalent of at least two units of study (equivalent to 25 UTAS credit points). If an applicant has failed any units, the application may be subject to further review before an offer is made.
Applicants with previous VET / TAFE study

English Language Requirements
This degree requires an IELTS (Academic) of 5.5, with no individual band less than 5.0, or a PTE Academic score of 43, with no score lower than 36 or equivalent.

The Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Marine Engineering) requires the completion of 200 credit points as follows:
Year 1 (Pre Sea - Engine) totalling 93.75 credit points, comprising core units (22 credit points), short course units (21.75 credit points) and practical units (50 credit points).
Year 2 (Watchkeeper - Engine) totalling 106.25 credit points, comprising core units (81.25 credit points), short course units (25 credit points) and an At Sea unit (6.25 credit points).

Passes in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this university or another approved tertiary institution (or other approved professional learning body) may be credited towards the degree provided that the College may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the degree.
