This course is offered part-time only, over two years, or four semesters. The maximum time for completion is five years.

With the exception of Child and Family Health Nursing all specialisations are offered completely online. In most specialisations, students must have access to clinical practice in the specialty area.

Please note that graduate programs are offered subject to student demand and the availability of School of Nursing resources.

Entry requirements

Requirements

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

  • Evidence of AHPRA registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with no endorsement notations or conditions. Midwives who do not have a nursing qualification identified in their Curriculum Vitae, are not eligible to apply.
  • A personal statement in eApplication, or a CV or Resume which states the area in which the applicant works as an RN and for the length of time (must have worked as an RN for 6 months minimum). To be eligible for the specialty applied for, the applicant must be working in that area.

Note:

  • The Child and Family Health specialisation is placement based and is only available for nurses in certain geographical areas.
Safety in Practice Requirement

This course includes compulsory work placements. All students must meet the course's Safety in Practice Requirements before their first placement. The safety in practice requirements are completed separately to the course admission application.

Career pathways

Graduates are able to further their career development by progressing to a Master of Clinical Nursing or a research Master of Nursing.

Professional Recognition

The Bachelor of Nursing with Professional Honours (Specialty) will be given the same professional recognition from specialist colleges and other nursing organisations and bodies that the Graduate Certificate in Nursing and the Graduate Diploma of Nursing receive.
