About this course

The Diploma of University Studies is designed as an alternative entry pathway to university study. In each specialisation, students study units which provide the skills and knowledge related to their intended degree and are provided with additional support to maximise their chances of success. Completion of the Diploma will provide achievement at Introductory level in two units. Specialisations offered in the Diploma of University Studies are Arts, Business, Education, Engineering, Health Science, ICT and Science.

The course is offered full time or part time. Campus, semester and attendance mode availability varies by specialisation - please refer to individual specialisations below.

Entry requirements

This course is designed for applicants who do not meet general entry requirements for their chosen degree or who want a more supported or graded introduction to university study.

Applicants will be assessed on prior study history and/or a personal competency statement. Assessment will be on the basis of one or more of the following:

  • Previous study at Year 11/12
  • TAFE study (Cert III level)
  • Proficiency in English reading and writing equivalent to Reading Level 4.03 and Writing Level 3.06 (Australian Core Skills Framework)
  • Numeracy Level 3 (all aspects)

Or

  • A personal competency statement demonstrating equivalent to the above through work or other experience.

Applicants not meeting the above entry requirements may commence study in the University Preparation Program (UPP). Applicants unsure of their eligibility should list the Diploma of University Studies as their first preference in an application and will be advised if UPP is the more appropriate option.

Engineering specialisation additional requirement: Level 2 mathematics (MTG215114 or equivalent)

Please note: students also require basic IT skills to undertake this course.

This course is not available to international students.
