About this course

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been driving profound changes over the last few decades. Estimated to be worth $22.17 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Advances such as self-driving cars, chatbots, search engines, and traffic control, all involve some level of computer intelligence to ensure reliability and autonomous response.

In this course you will develop skills that are in demand globally, such as machine learning, Python, Data Science and more, to explain the impact of AI and intelligent software on society. You will design and implement intelligent web applications using cloud computing. You will be able to securely manage data, using emerging and prevailing AI techniques, such as machine learning and natural language processing.

Your classes are taught by prominent AI researchers and guest lecturers, and you will have the option to join the classroom fully online or in Launceston or Hobart, providing you with a flexible learning environment. For those who choose to study on campus, you will have access to our modern computer laboratories and AI development software, to collaborate with likeminded people.

Whether you're interested in developing AI for health, for better towns and infrastructure, or to help understand and manage the natural environment, there is no better time than now to start a career in AI and help solve problems for the growing economy.

This Certificate is a pathway into the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (BICT) majoring in Artificial Intelligence, using all four units as credit for core and electives. You can transition into any major within the BICT to take your studies to the next level.
