About this course

Cyber security involves the creation, analysis, testing and operation of secure computing devices, computer networks and applications. It relies on technology, people, information and processes to enable secure operations in the context of adversaries.

A cyber security professional's role is to protect data from unauthorised access as well as working with colleagues to detect cyberthreats and actively combat cybercriminals.

As we conduct more of our social, consumer and business activities online, there is a growing demand for cyber security professionals to manage our digital life and economy in a trusted environment. In addition, the number of cyberattacks is increasing globally across all sectors of society, in particular government, banking, insurance, health, telecommunications, entertainment, automation, and artificial intelligence.

This situation is compounded by a worldwide shortage of cyber security skills expertise with as many as 3.5 million unfilled jobs in cyber security globally by 2021.
