Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying

During this course, you'll acquire the specialised knowledge needed to enforce the requirements, regulations and laws necessary for constructing residential and commercial buildings (up to three storeys).

Learning from industry professionals, you'll discover how to:

• apply building codes and industry standards
• interpret plans and specifications
• research and evaluate construction methods and materials
• apply legal and ethical requirements necessary for residential and commercial constructions
• process building applications
• conduct building surveying audits and initial construction inspections.

This course is suitable for building surveyors and certifiers currently working in the construciton industry, who wish to expand their skillset.

After completing the Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying CPC60121 at Victoria University Polytechnic, you'll qualify for the job title of Building Surveyor (Level 2).

You can also join the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors, the national professional organisation for building surveying.

• assistant building surveyor
• local authority building manager.

The course structure comprises the following core and elective units. These electives have been selected based on industry needs, graduate pathways and/or student and teacher feedback.

To be awarded the CPC60121 Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying, a student must successfully complete a total of 22 units of competency, comprising of:

• 19 core units and;
• 3 elective units, of which;

• up to 3 units may be selected from the elective units listed below
• up to 2 units may be selected from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma level.

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
