VU's research in human movement and sports science was rated 'well above world standard' by the latest Excellence in Research for Australia assessment.

This specialised program leads to a variety of career options in clinical exercise science, rehabilitation, sport science or human movement.

You'll graduate with excellent foundational knowledge for a professional career in the sport and exercise industry, with key skills in these areas:

• physiology
• kinesiology
• biomechanics
• exercise psychology.

You can choose your major to match your interests and career goals, from:

• Sport Performance - analysing and improving performance, health, and participation in sport and exercise.
• Human Movement - holistic understanding of human movement, particularly in sport and physical activity.
• Sport Coaching - coaching knowledge and skills in community-based coaching, talent identification and athlete-coach development.

Our graduates gain employment at elite sport organisations, leisure centres and community service organisations - with some even starting their own business.

To attain the Bachelor of Sport Science, students will be required to complete 288 credit points consisting of:

• 96 credit points First Year Core units
• 48 credit points Professional Core units
• 96 credit points Major studies selected from the approved list.
• 48 credit points Minor studies selected from the approved list.

SMIAAE Applied Anatomy for Exercise minor is only available to students who undertake SMASPP Sport Performance major.

If you have completed study with another university or institution and believe you are eligible to receive credit for skills and past study, you can apply for advanced standing.

Applications for advanced standing can be made after a discussion with your course chair or academic adviser.

Before applying, you should consider whether you also want to apply for:

• Special admission programs: Depending on your life circumstances you may be eligible for special consideration of your application.
• Advanced standing: If you have significant experience or studies elsewhere you may be eligible for credit for some units of your course and not have to undertake them.
