The workplaces of today and tomorrow use technology across nearly every job role, with the demand for digital literacy stronger than ever.

Through practical, industry-relevant training you will improve your digital capability. The technical skills developed during this course can be used across a variety of job roles, including in ICT-specific industries or in the field of your choice - wherever digital expertise is required.

You will develop highly desired skills in:

  • advanced features of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Access
  • effective communication in an ICT environment
  • creation of accurate user documentation
  • web design
  • installation and optimisation of operating system software
  • running diagnostic tests
  • basic cyber security

Upon completion of the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology you will have gained the knowledge to work in multiple fields across the industry, including:

Course structure

To be awarded the ICT30118 Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology, a student must successfully complete a total of seventeen (17) units of competency, comprising of:

  • six (6) core units, and;
  • eleven (11) elective units, of which:
  • five (5) units must be selected from one of the following specialist elective groups:
  • Group A: Applications;
  • Group B: Network administration;
  • Group C: Support;
  • Group D: Web technologies, or;
  • Group E: Multimedia;
  • up to six (6) units may be selected from any of the specialist elective groups above or from Group F, and;
  • up to three (3) units may be selected from elsewhere in the ICT Information and Communication Technology Training Package or any other Training Package or accredited course at Certificate III or IV level.

The electives chosen must be relevant to the work outcomes and meet local industry needs as well as be approved by the Polytechnic.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.
