There is a need across businesses for well-trained payroll personal who are knowledgeable and can keep accurate payroll systems. The Diploma of Payroll Services FNS50417 will equip you with skills to seek employment working as a:

  • payroll officer
  • payroll manager
  • working across other specialised payroll functions.

Course structure

The course structure comprises the following core and elective units. These electives have been selected based on industry needs, graduate pathways and/or student and teacher feedback.
To be awarded the FNS50417 Diploma of Payroll Services, a student must successfully complete a total of eleven (11) units of competency, comprising of:

  • eight (8) core units, and;
  • three (3) elective units, of which:
  • all three (3) units may be chosen from the elective units listed in the FNS50417 Diploma of Payroll Services qualification;
  • up to two (2) units may be from a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in any currently endorsed training package or accredited course, provided they do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

You may be able to complete your qualification sooner through formal recognition of your existing skills. This is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.
