The VCE VM is a two-year program that offers you a pathway into apprenticeships, traineeships or further study. You will gain interpersonal skills and build confidence through learning activities and completing tasks that require you to apply your problem-solving, leadership and decision making capabilities.

You will develop:

  • industry-specific skills
  • personal and employability skills
  • skills for further education.

The VCE VM is a senior secondary school qualification (Year 11 and Year 12) issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and is delivered under the authority of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). If you successfully complete the course, you'll receive your Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major.

Course structure

VCE Vocational Major (VM)
To be eligible to receive the VCE VM, students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 16 units, including:

  • 3 VCE VM Literacy or VCE English units (including a Unit 3-4 sequence)
  • 2 VCE VM Numeracy or VCE Mathematics units
  • 2 VCE VM Work Related Skills units
  • 2 VCE VM Personal Development Skills units, and
  • 2 VET credits at Certificate II level or above (180 nominal hours)

Students must complete a minimum of three other Unit 3-4 sequences as part of their program
