The STEM Guide (QLD)

QUT & The Uni Guide are excited to announce that in 2020 we’ve partnered to publish and distribute The STEM Guide to high schools throughout Queensland.

The co-produced guide is a careers resource designed to help Queensland students in years 10 to 12 understand the wide range of career paths available to students of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees. Importantly, it advises students on which QCE subjects they should choose to keep their STEM options open.

Why are we doing this?

• In many STEM fields, there is already a shortage of qualified workers in Australia, and this is only predicted to increase.
• To make sure we can meet future demand for highly paid STEM jobs locally, we need to encourage more high school students to study STEM degrees at university.

Who are they for?

• The guide is most useful for year 10 students, before they’ve made their QCE subject selections, however, older and younger students will find it very interesting too.
