Bachelor (Honours)

Honours in Criminology is an intensive year-long program that enables students to research a topic they are passionate about.
Entry Requirements

1. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the Head of School on the recommendation of the Course Coordinator.

2. Excepts as provided in Rule 3, a candidate for admission to the honours course shall have:

(a) satisfied all requirements of an AQF level 7:
(i) Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology or Bachelor of Criminology from the University of New England;
or

(ii) Bachelor of Criminology in the Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England;
and

(b) achieved a grade point average of 5.0 (Credit);
and

(c) attained at least Distinction standard in 12 credit points at 300 level in Criminology and CRIM244 or equivalent;
and

(d) passed units to the value of at least 48 credit points in the subject in which the candidate wishes to proceed;
and

(e) have fulfilled any additional requirements prescribed and published by the School or area concerned;

3. With the approval of the Head of School a person who has fulfilled the requirements of an equivalent AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification of a university or other institution and who meets requirements considered by the school to be equivalent to those specified in Rule 2(b), (c), (d) and (e), may be admitted to the honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Criminology with Honours.

Candidates admitted under Rule 2(a)(ii) shall have completed all requirements for admission to the degrees of Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Laws before being awarded the Bachelor of Criminology with Honours.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance, an applicant must:

  • hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) OR
  • hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale). Students with a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance will receive 40 credit points of advanced standing, OR
  • have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field, OR
  • have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia cohort

Students wishing to complete this program under the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) corporate education scheme are required to complete a consent form providing Griffith University with permission to share their student information with the employer, CBA, in relation to the program.
