Our Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work will enable you to draw on your lived experience to contribute to the wellbeing of others within the mental health system as a consumer or carer peer worker. Peer workers are employed in the mental health sector in government, public, private or community managed services.

How to apply

You must apply to study through Consumers of Mental Health Western Australia (COMHWA).

The Mental Health Commission supports COMHWA by providing subsidies to assist with the financial cost of studying. COMHWA leads a screening process for each new cohort of learners on an annual basis, therefore this course is available only to those who apply to study via COMHWA's recruitment process.

If you are an employer considering mental health peer workers or you currently have peer workers in your employment we can provide support in the form of a traineeship.

Please note however, that all course enquiries should be directed to Tracey Hennessy, Course Coordinator, Tracey.Hennessy@nmtafe.wa.edu.au, as potential students who are working in a peer work role could be eligible to join the course and/or apply for RPL.
