Our world is getting smaller due to the rapid development of telecommunication, the expansion of international trade and the ease of air travel. In this environment, Chinese can be counted as one of the most important languages to learn. Modern Standard Chinese is an official language of the United Nations.
Chinese is spoken by over one billion people in China as well as by millions of other people all over the world. The language is not so difficult to learn, having quite a simple structure, with no plural forms and no past or future tenses. China is the fastest growing economy in the world, with huge investments in the iron ore industry in Western Australia. For some years now, people with skills in Chinese have been in great demand both at home and overseas - especially in the areas of the service industry, in international and company law, economics, engineering and architecture.
Chinese (Mandarin) Beginners Stage 2 is a direct continuation of Beginners Stage 1. Words and phrases learned are revised and extended to new situations, and more cultural information on the countries added. Wherever possible, the course is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group. Therefore, some variations to course may occur.
