Accounting is crucial to the financial health of every business and getting skilled in the profession is a pathway to unlocking huge job potential, with this vital industry predicted to have stable to strong employment growth.

In this course you'll be guided by our expert team of lecturers as you further build on your accounting skillset and become trained in areas such as managing budgets and forecasts for businesses, preparing tax returns, producing financial reports and processing payroll transactions, whilst becoming proficient in using industry current accounting software including MYOB and XERO.

The course is ideal as an entry point into financial services if you're just beginning a career in the accounting field, or if you wish to elevate your current experience to gain higher skills and rise to more senior positions. This nationally recognised diploma is recognised by the Tax Practitioner's Board (TPB) and on completion of the course with passes in prescribed taxation units, you'll be eligible to pursue further study to be recognised as a Registered Tax Agent with the TPB.

This qualification will provide you with the opportunity to become a Registered Tax Agent, Assistant Accountant, Senior Payroll Officer, Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable Team Leader or Accounts Receivable Team Leader.

Entry requirements

School Leaver Non-School Leaver AQF
Completion of WACE General or ATAR (Minimum C Grades) or equivalent Completion of WACE General or ATAR or equivalent (minimum C Grades) Certificate III

Prior to enrolment into this qualification, you will be required to provide evidence of completion of the following units of competency (or equivalent):

  • FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports (Equivalent FNSACC311)
  • FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers (Equivalent FNSACC312)
  • FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry (Equivalent FNSACC408)
  • FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports (this unit is the equivalent version of BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports).

These competencies may have been achieved through completion of the following (or their equivalent):

FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set

or

FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
