Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) (Builder's Registration)

When you complete the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) you will be ready for a career as a construction site manager, or (with additional experience) registered building practitioner.

Prospective applicants should already have (or have by course completion date) 7 years or more experience in the Building Industry.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to manage effectively in the building and construction industry, coordinating the construction of residential buildings, building and contract law, quantities and estimating, site safety, timber code, project management, building contracts, and workplace health and safety.

This course covers the academic requirement for registration as a builder with Building Services Board.

Delivery of the course can be done in six blocks (3 units per week over a 6-month period). Students will need to attend three days of face-to-face workshops per month. Assessments must be submitted within three months after enrolment, and your enrolment can start at any time of the year. Students are required to undertake self-paced, online activities.

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where the jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills initiative, from 1 January 2021 through to 31 December 2021 you'll only pay half the course fees (plus resource fee), capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15-24 or eligible for a concession.
