Learn how to design, plan, manage, and execute electrical engineering projects with the use of industry leading tools and software. Work in the execution of mechatronics-based projects using automation tools such as logic controllers, pneumatic systems, sensors, actuators, automation software, and more.

Entry requirements

Students should have completed their WACE General or ATAR (Minimum C Grades) or have year 12 equivalent to study this course.

Students will need to have studied the following units prior to undertaking this skill set:

  • UEENEEE101A- Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace

What you will learn

  • develop design briefs for electrotechnology projects incorporating all client requirements and system design specification in accordance with Australian standards
  • understand and use automation tools such as limit switches, level switches, reflective sensors, I/O devices (e.g. logic controllers), pneumatic and electrical actuators in the execution of electrotechnology projects
  • apply industry and community standards while carrying out engineering activities
  • produce detailed drawings of electrical control circuitry and layout
  • analyse risk in line with Australian safety standards and develop a comprehensive risk management plan for any given electrotechnology project
  • project manage the complete lifecycle of the design process from conception and initiation, to planning, execution, performance/monitoring and project close
