This qualification provides the practical skills and knowledge to safely work within an autonomous workplace,
demonstrate awareness of what an autonomous workplace is, how it operates, what unique safety systems are present, how the human-machine interface operates and what, why and how data is used within such workplaces.

A familiarisation to the control systems used within industry, the various programming techniques employed and the relevant industry standards governing such systems is also covered.

This course would appeal to students who have a keen interest in IT and robotics.
Automation is the creation and application of technologies to produce and deliver goods and services with minimal human intervention. A
utomation technologies, techniques and processes improve the efficiency, reliability, and/or speed of many tasks previously performed by humans.

Successful completion of the course will see students gain an understanding
through interaction with simulated plant
operations and robotics.
The course prepares students to be work-ready as a trainee or apprentice in an industries
which are rapidly becoming more automated including, but not limited to:
mining, refining and oil and gas.

South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.
