This qualification addresses work in roles that usually involve service delivery, either direct client work and/or community education or development projects.
.Workers at this level operate at an advanced skill level and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers and the design and delivery of service programs, managing budgets, contracts and compliance requirements.
Possible career options for graduates are Welfare Worker, Youth Worker, Developmental Worker, Home Care worker, Family Carer or Nursing Assistant. Graduates are able to work in aged care homes, youth shelters, State Government Family and Community Service Agencies, youth centres, aboriginal communities, community centres and local councils. Working for oneself through contract community work is possible also.
South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.
There are no entrance requirements however a pre enrolment interview is required with a lecturer prior to enrolment.
Please note selected campuses strongly recommend you hold a Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health or Youth Work to be accepted into this course.
