When you complete this course, you will be ready for a career in remedial massage. You will have the skills and knowledge to perform massages for relaxation and health purposes. You will learn skills to assess a clients massage needs and plan and conduct a remedial massage based on a knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and using skills in a wide range of soft tissue massage techniques. You will also learn to work safely and ethically in a health care environment, to communicate effectively with clients and other health care workers and to operate your own massage practice. During this qualification you will be required to conduct and complete a large number of massages of varying types, work on a variety of community clients, and work in and with the massage industry. Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become a remedial massage therapist, either as a sole practitioner or with other health professionals such as physiotherapists. Students also learn how to set up their own massage business and understand legal and ethical requirements of the health industry.
.South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.
