This Skill Set provides an opportunity for existing workers to build on their knowledge and skills within the disability sector. Working within the social model of disability and from a strengths-based and human rights perspective, you will learn to empower individuals to reach their personal goals. The following units will be covered in this skill set:
  • CHCDIS001 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach;
  • CHCDIS002 Follow established person-centred behaviour supports;
  • CHCDIS003 Support community participation and social inclusion;
  • CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability; and
  • HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

This skill set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services sector who wish to develop skills in providing person centred support to people with disability.
