About this course

This five day WorkSafe Western Australia accredited course for Health and Safety Representatives will provide representatives with information and skills to enable them to effectively carry out their role as "representatives" of employees, and as defined under Section 68 of the WHS Act.

The course is specifically designed to achieve the objectives of the Act offering a balanced approach with emphasis on cooperation and consultation and representatives' participation in the development and formulation of safety and health policy and procedures at the workplace.

This course covers:

  • how to apply the legislative requirements to the workplace
  • how to apply the principles of Risk Management by participating in and conducting a workplace inspection
  • how to apply the techniques of accident investigation
  • how to assist the employer in the development of accident prevention controls and systems
  • how to effectively communicate with the employer and employees on safety and health matters

On completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attendance from South Regional TAFE.

Entry requirements

To be eligible to undertake the WorkSafe WA HSR training, the persons attending must be HSR's or deputy HSR's that have been elected under the WHS Act.
