Unitec Institute of Technology Courses

You must have completed at least one of the following:

• A minimum of 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, with:
  • 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects, with;
  • a further 14 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional domains on the National Qualifications Framework or plus;
  • a minimum of 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the National Qualifications Framework, plus
  • 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori (a minimum of 4 credits must be in Reading and a minimum of 4 credits must be in Writing);
• At least 3 'C' passes in the New Zealand University Bursaries Examinations; or
• Successful completion of relevant programme

You must have completed at least one of the following:

• NCEA entry requirements;
  • A minimum of 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, with
• 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects from an approved subject list,
• 14 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional domains on the National Qualifications Framework,
• 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the National Qualifications Framework,
• Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 3 or above with a relevant pathway, where appropriate.

And meet one of the English entry requirements;

• University Entrance Literacy: 8 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (4 in Reading, 4 in Writing); or
• Evidence of English language proficiency as outlined in the NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.

• An equivalent of IELTS (Academic) with minimum band scores of 6.0 with no individual band lower than 5.5 from one test taken in the preceding two years,
• Evidence of English language proficiency as outlined in the NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.; or
• University Entrance Literacy: 8 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (4 in Reading, 4 in Writing); or

You must have completed at least one of the following:

• A minimum of 60 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, with at least 3 'C' passes in the New Zealand University Bursaries Examinations;
  • A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in Physics and
  • A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in Mathematics (including Algebra and calculus); and
  • A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in one other subject from the list of approved NZQA UE subjects and
  • A minimum of 18 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional subjects from the approved subjects listed at NZQA;
• Successful completion of New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electrical)
• Equivalent academic qualifications may include:
  • University Bursary with 45% or more in both Physics and Calculus or Algebra or
  • Equivalent Cambridge score; or
  • Equivalent International Baccalaureate

You must have completed at least one of the following:

• 3 'C' passes in the New Zealand University Bursaries Examinations; or
• Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 3 or above within a computing-related pathway, where appropriate), or
• NCEA requirements are a minimum of 42 credits achieved at NCEA Level 3 or higher, including:
  • 14 credits in two different approved subjects (view a list of approved subjects on the NZQA website); and
  • 14 credits from up to two subjects (approved or non-approved).
  • 14 credits at NCEA Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau
  • 15 credits at NCEA Level 2 in Mathematics

You must have completed at least one of the following:

• Successful completion of New Zealand Certificate in Animal Care - Companion Animals
• A minimum of 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, with:
  • 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects, with;
  • a further 14 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional domains on the National Qualifications Framework or plus;
  • a minimum of 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the National Qualifications Framework, plus
  • 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori (a minimum of 4 credits must be in Reading, and a minimum of 4 credits must be in Writing)
• At least 3 'C' passes in the New Zealand University Bursaries Examinations;

And meet one of the English entry requirements;

• University Entrance Literacy: 8 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (4 in Reading, 4 in Writing); or
• Provide evidence that they have the English language proficiency required for the Programme as demonstrated through evidence of one of the kinds described in NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.
