About this course

Do you like technology and solving problems? Or do you just love learning about how the world works? In this one-year program, you'll investigate the roles science and technology play in our everyday lives, and how data can be used to solve real-world challenges.

In this program you will:

  • Study core scientific fields like biology, chemistry and ecology, as well as 'Big Idea' modules that introduce you to the cutting edge of science, research and technology
  • Work in the lab and in the field to build skills in investigation, presenting data and critical analysis
  • Explore career options with elective courses in Environmental Science, general Science or Animal Ecology, then later complete a bachelor
  • Upon successful completion, receive direct entry and up to 96 units of credit* towards USC's Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Environmental Science or Bachelor of Animal Ecology.

Entry requirements

Additional entry information

Applicants who have already completed a higher education qualification (AQF Level 5 and above, or equivalent), excluding VET sector diplomas, are not eligible for entry into this program.

Proficiency in the English language is required for entry to all programs and courses and any international or domestic applicant from a non-English speaking background must satisfy the University's standard and program specific English language requirements.

* Maximum credit is possible only if you select relevant discipline electives in the Diploma that are required courses in your preferred degree from the list above, with the exception of Bachelor of Animal Ecology, where maximum credit that can be awarded is only 84 units (7 courses) due to insufficient elective space for introductory level courses.
