For entry into most USC undergraduate degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades.

Further studies, for example, a semester or more at college or university, can also be considered for entry and may give you credit transfer towards a degree.

Post admission requirements

In first year, all students must obtain (or show proof of):

  • a Working with Children Check ('blue card')
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • immunisations (hepatitis B, MMR, DTPA, varicella, COVID-19)

At the start of second year, students must complete a criminal history check. These checks and certificates must remain current for the duration of the program.

Students must purchase an occupational therapy student uniform.

This program includes supervised work placements. Placements are normally undertaken in a full-time capacity over 1-10 weeks. Where required, reasonable accommodations can be made to allow for part-time or flexible placement options.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 7.0 with minimum 7 in each subtest

Language of Instruction English (LOI) LoI English will be considered in limited circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who have successfully completed at least two years of senior secondary, post-secondary (eg VET/TAFE) or tertiary study where the language of instruction is English, completed within the last five years in any of the countries listed, may be considered:

Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom and United States of America.

LoI English will not be considered for studies undertaken in countries that don't appear in this list.

Meet the requirements for registration as a psychologist. Learn at the Thompson Institute, a world-class hub for mental health research, teaching and clinical services, close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for admission to the Master of Psychology (Clinical) are:

  1. Successful completion of an APAC accredited four-year degree or fourth year in Psychology in the last 10 years.
  2. An upper second class Honours (2A) OR psychologists with demonstrated equivalent experience and compliance with PsyBA CPD requirements.
  3. Applicants must have provisional or general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Master of Psychology (Clinical) offers a limited number of places.

Special selection criteria

Entry to the fourth year of the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is based on a student's grade point average (GPA) meeting the minimum requirement of 5.5 in the developing and graduate level (200/300 coded) PSY courses.

Exemption for first year Mathematics

High achieving mathematics students can apply for exemptions to introductory mathematics and calculus subjects. However, exempted courses will need to be replaced with engineering relevant courses to fulfil the requirements of the degree. Apply through the School of Engineering.

To be eligible for admission to a research Master degree, an applicant must hold:

(a) a Bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher on a seven point scale from a recognised higher education institution; or

(b) a Bachelor Honours degree (AQF Level 8) Class IIB from a recognised higher education institution; or

(c) a record of qualifications and/or professional research experience deemed to be equivalent to the standard of (a) or (b) as may be approved by the Research Degrees Committee, or the Chairperson acting on behalf of the Committee.

The prior study must be in an area of study relevant to the discipline area of the Master degree. If the prior study has not included an appropriate preparation in research methodology, the candidate will be required to undertake an appropriate research methodology course, as specified by the relevant Head of School, as part of their candidature.

The admission requirements for a specific Master degree may include additional requirements, such as a Bachelor degree in the relevant discipline, professional registration, a specified number of years of professional practice, or other requirements indicative of a suitable preparation to undertake a research program at Master level. Additional requirements should be discussed with your proposed supervision team prior to applying.
