Advanced Diploma pathway

Applicants for the Advanced Diploma pathway apply directly to the University and must have:

• an Advanced Diploma in Children's Services, an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management or an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Work and
• at least two years industry experience in the early childhood or related sectors

Selection of applicants will be based on (1) academic merit and (2) industry experience in the early childhood or related sectors.

This program is not available to applicants who hold a qualification in Nursing acceptable for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

Advanced Standing Pathway is available for graduates of the Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider with unconditional registration (without restrictions) as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are eligible for the Diploma of Nursing pathway. Note that registration under the AHPRA Pandemic Response Sub Register is not accepted. Note: The Diploma of Nursing Pathway is not available in Trimester 1 2023.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification.

Please note that credit will not be permitted for any units completed as part of the recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent international qualification) used as the basis of admission.

The University's Bachelor Honours Degree (AQF Level 8) Policy will apply.

The criteria for admission to this Honours program are:

• successful completion of the Griffith Bachelor of Child and Family Studies or Griffith Bachelor of Child, Youth and Family Practice or an equivalent qualification from another university;
• a GPA of at least 5.0 over the second and third year of the Bachelor degree.

The Program Director will take the following into consideration when assessing applications for admission:

• the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic, the resources available to support the candidature and the availability of appropriate supervision;
• the preparedness of the applicant to undertake the degree in terms of the elapsed time since the prospective candidate qualified for the award of a Bachelor degree and the academic preparation provided by the Bachelor degree for the candidate's proposed dissertation topic.
