Entrance requirements for apprenticeships

You must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation to study an apprenticeship or traineeship.

An apprenticeship involves full time work with an employer who provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of a trade. This is a structured program for a fixed period of time and while you learn on the job, you also attend off the job training at SM TAFE.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

Holmesglen requires all applicants to be engaged in an Electrical Apprenticeship. You must be signed up as an Apprentice with your chosen employer and have a Delta number stating Holmesglen is your selected training provider.

It is recommended that applicants have completed Year 11 or equivalent and have a minimum of Year 10 English and Mathematics.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

This course provides training in selecting, installing, setting up, testing, fault finding, repairing and maintenance of electronic equipment and devices at component/sub-assembly level. There are elective options in radio frequency and security.
Entry Requirements

If you are entering this course as an apprentice/trainee you must:
- be employed in industry
- be an Apprentice or Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeship Scheme (AAS) and be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) prior to enrolment.

This course has pre-requisite requirements as shown below. All prerequisites must be achieved. Discuss with a CIT teacher during enrolment to ensure you have met these requirements.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
