Griffith University Courses

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing, applicants must hold:

• a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
  AND
• current or temporary unrestricted registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian accredited qualification.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery has instituted a Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) procedure for registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate qualification. Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate eligibility requirements. The School of Nursing and Midwifery will determine eligibility for admission into the requested program based on application, curriculum vitae and referee reports.

Entry to the Master of Suicidology program requires students to hold:

• a Bachelor degree in a related field such as medical, social or behavioural science, psychological sciences, social work, community welfare, human services, public health, nursing, education, criminology, anthropology, law
• OR a Bachelor Honours, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma qualification in a different discipline area
• OR a Graduate Certificate in Suicidology (3382) or Graduate Certificate in Suicide Prevention Studies (3110) (from Griffith University) with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher (successful applicants will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing and will be required to complete 80 credit points in the program).

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Policy Analysis, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (using a 7.0 scale) OR
• have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field or with the public sector OR
• have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Business Cyber Security, an applicant must:

• hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale)
• OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Data Science, an applicant must:

• hold a Bachelor degree or Bachelor Honours degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale)
• OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field.

Completion of this Graduate Certificate is a pathway into the Master of Information Technology (5612), where applicants may be eligible for 40 credit points of credit.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Applied Behaviour Analysis, applicants must have:

• completed a Bachelor degree in a related area with a GPA of at least 4.0 (using a 7 point scale) - examples include Speech Pathology, Psychology, Education, Human Services, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science and Medicine.
• OR completed the Graduate Certificate in Applied Behaviour Analysis (3363) with a GPA of at least 4.0 (using a 7 point scale) - students admitted via this pathway will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing for the courses completed in the Graduate Certificate.
• OR completed a suitable qualification (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor Honours degree) in a related area with a GPA of at least 4.0 (using a 7 point scale) - examples include Speech Pathology, Psychology, Education, Autism Studies, Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Rehabilitation Counselling, Exercise Physiology and Medicine (students admitted with these qualifications may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of credit).

All applicants seeking to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control must hold:

• a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline (health, medical, nursing or scientific) from a recognised higher education institution.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Integrated Water Management, applicants must hold:

• a Bachelor degree in a field relevant to water management OR a Graduate Certificate in Integrated Water Management;
• a minimum of one year practical experience in a related field.

Students admitted to the program with a Graduate Certificate in Integrated Water Management will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program. Further credit in addition to that awarded on the basis of advanced standing is not available.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Learning, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale) OR
• have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to the above (these students will be eligible for up to 20 credit points of credit).

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Mental Health Practice, a student must have completed:

• a Bachelor degree in a health/allied health discipline such as nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, pharmacy, speech pathology, medicine, dentistry, or other human services field with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale);
• OR a Bachelor degree with Honours, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma qualification in a human services field with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale);
• OR the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Practice (3232) from Griffith University with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) (successful applicants will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing).

As the number of applicants may exceed the Commonwealth Supported Places available in the program, selection for admission is competitive and will be based upon past academic performance and the relevance of previously completed tertiary studies and work experience. To be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place, applicants are required to submit past academic transcripts and a curriculum vitae. You also have the opportunity to provide additional supporting documentation (personal statement of up to 500 words plus supporting evidence) if you consider that your past GPA was adversely impacted by significant circumstances such as poverty, homelessness, mental or physical ill-health, or family violence. If you are not successful in gaining a Commonwealth Supported Place, you may be eligible for a Fee-Paying Postgraduate place.
