Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Juris Doctor, an applicant must have completed:

  • a Bachelor degree (except a Bachelor of Laws) or higher providing it is equivalent to 1.5 years of full-time study from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 7-point scale (or equivalent) OR
  • a law degree from a different legal system (i.e. it must be a Bachelor of Laws from a non-Australian tertiary institution).

Study overseas and gain a qualification in criminology and justice. The Diploma in Criminology and Justice is offered over eight courses and gives you the option to tailor your studies to suit your interests.

For entry into most USC undergraduate degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades.

Further studies, for example, a semester or more at college or university, can also be considered for entry and may give you credit transfer towards a degree.

Some examples of upper secondary qualifications and a guide to the minimum grades that USC will consider are listed here. These are minimum requirements and do not guarantee entry. Some programs may require higher grades. Alternative qualifications may also be considered on a case by case basis.

If your qualification (grouped by country) is not listed, send the qualification transcripts with your application form to the International Office for assessment.

English language requirements

(b) completed overseas secondary qualifications or tertiary qualifications deemed equivalent to Australian qualifications; or

(c) completed Australian post-secondary or tertiary qualifications; or

(d) completed an approved admission scheme or pathway; or

(e) satisfied the requirements of an approved inter-institution agreement; or

(f) satisfied any additional requirements and/or selection criteria prescribed for particular courses; or

(g) obtained other equivalent qualifications and/or vocational experience; or

(h) satisfied the requirements for non-standard admission.
