There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. It is recommended that you have evidence to demonstrate the following:
1. Completed the Certificate IV in Information Technology or other relevant qualification, or:
2. If you have not completed the required qualifications, you have demonstrated vocational experience in a range of work environments, specifically using IT networking technologies. This experience must be relevant to the qualification and examples of the following will be requested prior to enrolling:

Programming stream:
- Creating OOP classes using inheritance.
- Manipulating databases using SQL; applying basic programming skills to create applications; creating markup language documents (HTML) and cascading style sheets (CSS).
- Analysing system requirements and document using UML diagrams such as user case diagram and use cases.
- Using a programming language (e.g., Java, C++ and PL/SQL) to create iterative constructs and conditional statements.

Networking stream:
- Working with the intermediate functions of the current version of Windows Server such as DHCP, DNS, NPS, VPN and IPsec.
- The ability to pass CCNA Routing and Switching - Introduction to Networks (TCP/IP model, OSI model, basic router configuration and IP addressing including VLSM)
