If you are a Commonwealth Supported student, you will also need to submit a HECS-HELP form. You can obtain this form at your home university, or contact us to have one posted to you.

To be eligible, you must have completed

• the equivalent of one semester of research activity, such as a thesis, at a Masters level
• the equivalent of one semester of research activity at an Honours or Graduate Diploma level and achieved a distinction or higher overall
• comparable levels of research, such as scholarly publications

You must also plan to conduct research that is compatible with the research priorities and resources of this University. When you apply, you must submit a research proposal, comprising 500 to 1000 words. The research priorities of this University tend to revolve around

• tropical, regional, and remote health - including nursing, midwifery, and allied health
• environmental studies
• energy, resources, and engineering
• social and public policy in Northern Australia and the region
• community resilience
• cybersecurity and IT
• business and law
• education

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification in a relevant field.

Consideration will also be given to those who do not have one of the above qualifications, but who have at least five years relevant professional experience, for example in policy development, research, governance or service delivery. Applicants must provide further documentation in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application.

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
• Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
  ~Air Force: Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman
  ~Army: Corporal, Lance Corporal, Private
  ~Navy: Able Seaman, Leading Seaman, Seaman

*After any applicable adjustment factors have been applied.

Successful completion of one of the following:

• a recognised bachelor degree or a graduate diploma or masters degree in a related area; or
• a recognised bachelor degree plus an honours or a graduate diploma or masters degree in a non-related area.

Related areas include: public health, health science, primary health care, medicine, social science or health promotion.

Note: Bachelor of Nursing is not an approved degree for this course. Applicants with a degree in this field are encouraged to apply for either the Graduate Diploma of Health Research or Public Health. Applicants with extensive experience in rural and remote practice may be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants who have completed Charles Darwin University's Graduate Certificate of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (UIDPC1) or Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology (UEPID1) are also eligible for entry.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification.

Consideration will also be given to applicants who do not have one of the above qualifications, but who have at least five years appropriate professional experience.

Applicants must provide further documentation detailing their employment experience in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application.

Successful completion of one of the following:

• a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification in a related field; or
• a recognised bachelor degree in an unrelated field plus completion of a graduate diploma in a related field or equivalent international qualification.

Related fields include: biological science, earth science, environmental engineering, environmental science, geography, geographic information or sustainability studies.
