Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification; however, candidates who wish to commence this course need to have the required skills and knowledge to undertake the qualification at this level, e.g., completion of Year 10 or equivalent and a general command of spoken and written English to be able to meet industry standards for communication. A pre-assessment may be required.

To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LL&N) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
• Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
  • Navy: Seaman, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman
  • Air Force: Aircraftmen/Aircraftwoman, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal
  • Army: Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal
• Current School Leaver Pathways:

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 80*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Diploma level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma with a GPA of 3.7.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 157.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses or other recognised enabling course of at least 12 months duration.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.

Successful completion of the following:

• an APAC accredited three-year undergraduate psychology sequence or the CDU Bachelor of Psychological Science degree; and
• a GPA of at least 5.0; and
• credit in units equivalent to PSY247/PSY248 Research Design and Analysis and PSY347/PSY337 Advanced Research Design and Analysis. If you undertook equivalent units at an institution other than CDU, you will be required to attach your unit outlines to your application.

Applicants who have completed CDU's WPSYG1 Bachelor of Psychological Science (Graduate Entry) plus a three-year bachelor degree are also eligible for entry are also eligible for entry. Alternative assessment provisions are available for First Nations Australians who have completed an APAC accredited three-year undergraduate sequence in Psychology.

Human Resource Management - successful completion of the VET qualification

• BSB40420 - Certificate IV in Human Resources or
• BSB50320 - Diploma of Human Resources Management

Hospitality Management - successful completion of the VET qualification

• SIT40422 - Certificate IV in Hospitality or
• SIT50422 - Diploma of Hospitality Management

Project Management - successful completion of the VET qualification

• BSB50820 - Diploma of Project Management.

Workplace Health and Safety - successful completion of the VET qualification

• BSB51319 - Diploma of Work Health and Safety

Whilst there are no specific entry requirements, it is preferred individuals possess a BSB30115 Certificate III in Business, or similar qualification; or have vocational experience in a business or management related role without holding a formal qualification.

A Pre-enrolment interview will be conducted, and your lecturer will determine options for study.

A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment is necessary to establish support requirements for all enrolees undertaking study of this qualification.

To gain entry into SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness, candidates are required:

• To have access to a Fitness facility supervised by qualified trainers (paid or volunteer)
• To hold or must be eligible for a Working with Children Clearance (also known as Ochre card)

• SISFFIT033 Complete client fitness assessments
• SISFFIT035 Plan group exercise sessions
• SISFFIT036 Instruct group exercise sessions
• SISFFIT040 Develop and instruct gym-based exercise programs for individual clients
• SISFFIT047 Use anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective exercise
• SISFFIT052 Provide healthy eating information

AHC30722 Certificate III in Horticulture is available for direct entry; however, it is recommended that candidates:

• Have successfully completed AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture or related qualification; or

• Be a trainee with an existing work contract
