Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Nursing will enable registered nurses to develop advanced knowledge and specialist skills in the paediatric nursing environment. Please note that successful completion of this program does not lead to eligibility to apply for registration as a nurse.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Nursing, applicants will require the following:

  • hold a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) AND
  • current or temporary unrestricted registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian Bachelor-level degree.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery has instituted a Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) procedure for registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate qualification. Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate eligibility requirements. The School of Nursing and Midwifery will determine eligibility for admission into the requested program based on application, curriculum vitae and referee reports.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Safety Leadership, applicants must:

  • hold a Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
  • OR have completed a minimum of four years of relevant work experience in industry - applicants will have either operational of safety equipment experience in an industry that has some kind of plausible safety concern, or where man-made disasters can happen (for example, construction, mining, oil and gas, aviation, healthcare, catering etc or in areas of IT, electricity, shipping, insurance depending on their documented experience).

This research degree will provide opportunities for students to carry out advanced research in response to a research question of their choice.
Entry Requirements

An applicant for admission to the Master of Design Research is required to hold:

  • a postgraduate qualification with a GPA of at least 5 in a related discipline
  • OR a Bachelor degree with at least Second Class Honours (Division B) in a related discipline.

In addition to the academic qualifications required for candidature as described above, the following criteria needs to be satisfied for admission:

  • the proposed topic is appropriate for higher degree research;
  • the Queensland College of Art is able to provide the necessary research place, supervision, resources and facilities; and there is an appropriate fit between the applicant, research environment, available resources and supervision;
  • the proposed program of work can be completed within the maximum period of candidature for the degree;
  • the proposed research does not reproduce research that has previously been submitted for the award of a degree or diploma;
  • the proposed program conforms to the University's ethical guidelines on research involving humans and animals;
  • where the intellectual property rights of the applicant may be a consideration, a suitable agreement protecting the rights of the student has been signed.

Non-Award

The Griffith University Masters Qualifying Program provides students with an opportunity to upgrade their prior study to meet the academic and/or English language requirements for direct admission to a Griffith University Masters program.
Entry Requirements

This program is for International students only.

To be eligible for admission to the Masters Qualifying Program, a student must:

  • hold a three year post-secondary (post-Year 12 equivalent) qualification OR
  • hold a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

Academic qualifications, English proficiency levels and work experience will be assessed upon application to the Masters Qualifying Program. Applicants should note that a related Bachelor degree is required for admission to some Masters programs.

The Masters Qualifying Program may provide a pathway to Arts, Education and Law; Griffith Business School; Griffith Health and Griffith Sciences Masters programs. At the point of application, students will be assessed for their eligibility for admission to the Masters program. Students will receive a packaged offer for the Masters Qualifying Program and the approved Masters program. The offer is conditional upon students achieving a program GPA of 4.0 in the Masters Qualifying Program.

Masters (Coursework)

The Master of Suicidology provides an extension to the existing Graduate Certificate in Suicidology currently offered by the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP).
Entry Requirements

Entry to the Master of Suicidology program requires students to hold:

  • a Bachelor degree in a related field such as medical, social or behavioural science, psychological sciences, social work, community welfare, human services, public health, nursing, education, criminology, anthropology, law
  • OR a Bachelor Honours, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma qualification in a different discipline area
  • OR a Graduate Certificate in Suicidology (3382) or Graduate Certificate in Suicide Prevention Studies (3110) (from Griffith University) with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher (successful applicants will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing and will be required to complete 80 credit points in the program).
