Holmesglen Institute of TAFE Courses

Students for this program must be attending a secondary school and be part of the VETDSS program. The student's school nominates the students for the program. VETDSS students do not undertake an LLN assessment as they are assessed at their Secondary School

There are no prerequisites for this qualification, however, students for this program must be attending a secondary school and be part of the VETDSS program.

Students are required to be enrolled in a Victorian Secondary School for entry into this program.

For work experience a current Working With Children Check card is required for students 18 years of age or older and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required by individual centres/businesses.

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCE (VM) student at a Victorian secondary school.

Students should also have the physical capacity to be able to successfully work within the field where they may be required to conduct their work typically within fitness centres, sports grounds or facilities, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres, while making sure they are in compliance with all Manual Handling WHS legislation.

Learners are required to be current school students enrolled in the VETDSS program in either Year 10, 11 or 12 at one of the schools with which the VETDSS department has an agreement.

Prior to commencement of the course, learners are required to discuss their learning needs with their school, and be assessed by the school coordinator for suitability to the program.

Learners require digital literacy skills and the ability to:
turn on a computer
connect to the internet
use a mouse, keyboard, headset with microphone or speakers and webcam
open and close a software application
conduct a search in a web browser
send and receive emails
save a file, and locate a saved file
download and install a software application.

Applicants intending to learn remotely will require access to a PC computer or laptop with the following minimum specifications:
Quad-Core CPU, 8GB of RAM, 200GB of storage, 2 GHz or faster processor

Students are required to have basic computer skills, mainly to prepare Word and Excel documents, turn a computer on and off, use search engines such as Google, type documents, and access the Holmesglen learning management system and research topics relevant to industry information and sources.

Computer and internet use skills includes basic Word and formatting/data entry skills required for assessments and client bookings.
