English Language Proficiency Requirements

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or the United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion within the last 5 years of:

A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or

Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or the United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 7.0 with a minimum 7.0 in each subset; or

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 600 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 5.0 (Paper Based Test), or 100 or better overall and a score of 25 or better in the Writing section (Internet Based Test); or

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 64 with no communication score less than 64; or

An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between the final examination date and the date of commencement of the study and must appear on a single result certificate.

Health Requirements

Students will be required to undergo a mandatory Health Screening assessment and provide evidence of current mandatory vaccinations prior to undertaking Work-integrated Learning units.

Assumed Knowledge

All domestic and international, onshore and offshore undergraduate students who commence from Term 1, 2022 and study at least two years (FTE) with CQUniversity are eligible.

Successful enrolment in the degree will be subject to the conditions of the Graduate Guarantee Offer which are:

• Available to all students (domestic and international, onshore and offshore) who have been conferred a CQUniversity undergraduate degree qualification in 2022, or later;
• Successfully complete at least 16 units with CQUniversity; and
• Maintain an up-to-date Portfolium / LinkedIn profile.

Students must apply for enrolment into the free, hyperflexible degree (Graduate Certificate) by completing an application confirming their inability to achieve relevant employment (neither part-time nor full-time) since their official undergraduate degree conferral date. Graduates must apply between six and 12 months after graduation and must complete their free Graduate Certificate within 12 months of commencement.

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold one of the following:

• A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree, or higher equivalent qualification with a minimum cumulative course Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0; or
• A completed AQF Bachelor degree, or higher equivalent qualification with a minimum cumulative course GPA of at least 4.0 with a minimum of 2 years' employment experience which demonstrates the use of professional or creative writing skills; or
• A minimum of 5 years' employment experience which demonstrates the use of professional or creative writing skills.

Employment experience must be shown in a letter of employment which is presented on a company letterhead as well as signed and dated by a delegated authority. The letter must contain position title, duties performed and length of service. Applicants being admitted on the basis of employment experience may be referred to the Head of Course to confirm employment experience meets the course requirements.

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse; and
• A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), or equivalent, Bachelor of Nursing qualification.

It is a course requirement that all students maintain their AHPRA nursing registration for the duration of the course. Students must immediately report any professional investigations into their nursing practice and employment, and/or any restriction or suspension of their AHPRA registration to CQUniversity.

Security RequirementsBachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) students must hold a current and valid registered nursing licence with AHPRA to be considered for entry into the course and ongoing enrolment in the degree. It is a course requirement that all students maintain their AHPRA nursing registration for the duration of the course. Paramedics with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 2 years unsupervised clinical operational experience.

Experience must be provided in the form of either a letter of employment, or an official statement of service. Letters of employment must be presented on a company letterhead as well as signed and dated by a delegated authority. Please ensure the letter contains your position title, a brief position description and your length of service.

English Language Proficiency Requirement:

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

Security RequirementsYears 2 and 3 of the Medical Science course include work placement. Students must satisfy specific pre-clinical safety and security requirements prior to each placement, including a clear criminal record check, and must disclose any condition that may put themselves or the public at significant risk whilst on placement. Students are required to meet all mandatory requirements to attend work placements. Students who have a criminal history check disclosure prior to commencing the course or recorded in the duration of the course are required to have their fitness for placement assessed on a case by case basis by the University or in conjunction with the placement provider or State Health Department (as appropriate). Where a student has a criminal history check prior to enrolment in the course, the student may be required to apply for clearance through the applicable State Health Department to determine fitness for placement prior to enrolment in the course. A student may be declared ineligible for placement based on the nature of the criminal history disclosure, the inability to perform required tasks, or if the student may be determined a risk to clients, staff or other stakeholders. A student may be determined ineligible for placement if the placement site is unable to work with the constraints of any conditions or work modifications placement upon the placement provider by the State Health Department or assessment unit within a private organisation. If conditions imposed upon the placement are too restrictive for placement sites within the current offer round, the student may be determined as not fit for placement and is at risk of the University terminating the enrolment in the course. Health RequirementsYears 2 and 3 of the Medical Science course include work placement. Students must satisfy specific pre-placement health and safety checks prior to each placement and must disclose any condition that may put themselves or the public at significant risk whilst on placement. During placement, students will be working in pathology laboratories, hospitals, clinics, or research laboratories. Letters of employment must be presented on a company letterhead and signed and dated by a delegated authority within the organisation.
